To post a photo from your phone to your Snap Story, open Snapchat, swipe up from the bottom of the screen, then select the picture you want from the “Camera Roll” tab. Tap “Story” to post the picture to your story.

For a long time, you could only post photos from Snapchat’s camera to your Story. This was really annoying if you took a great photo on your phone and wanted to share it to Snapchat: you just couldn’t do it. Thankfully, things have changed. Here’s how to share a photo from your phone to Snapchat.

Open Snapchat and swipe up on the main photo screen to access Memories. You can also tap the small photos icon to the left of the shutter button to access your Snapchat Memories.

Select Camera Roll from the list of picture locations. You’ll see all the photos saved to your phone. Select the photo you want to post.

Select

You can tap “Story” to post the picture directly to your story. Alternatively, you can also hit the small pen icon in the bottom left, or any of the editing icons near the top right to open the photo editor.

Tap

Once you’ve selected an editing option you can draw on the image, add text, crop it, or perform any number of other modifications. When you’re done, tap the small “Story” icon near the bottom of the screen.

Tap “Add” when you get the “Add To Your Story” confirmation popup.

Tap

If you want to post a picture to your Snapchat Story and send a snap to your friends, tap “Send To” or “Next” instead of “Story.”

Tap

Select “My Story” from the list, confirm that you want to make a post, and tap the blue arrow to post the Snapchat to your Story. You can also send the photo directly to any of your contacts. Just select them from the list before you tap the blue arrow.

And with that, you’ve posted a photo from your phone to Snapchat. This opens up a lot of options for sharing photos you’ve taken in the past, or with a better camera.
